As Senior Garment Technologist, you will be responsible for the fit and quality of samples for two leading womenswear retailers at this leading supplier working within a large multi-functional team dedicated to the design, development and production of high-quality multi-product woven and jersey fashion including denim, casualwear, activewear, nightwear, soft separates and tailoring. Reporting to the Technical Manager.

The successful individual will have a minimum of 6 years of experience in garment technology with a passion for garment construction and an eye for fit and design.

This is a hybrid position based in London working within a garment technical team of five soon to be seven! 

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee samples at all stages from first fit and sealer to production sample.
• Prepare technical workbooks for the factories to include final spec sheet and photos with make details for the factory ensuring they are both accurate and complete.
• Provide technical advice on garment construction to buyers at first fit stage to ensure production viability without jeopardising cost or design integrity.
• Organise and attend remote and office-based fit meetings with customers.
• Write detailed fit comments for the factories to easily understand.
• Check samples for measurements, quality, construction methods, fabric and labelling and set standards for the factory.
• Monitor the sealing process to ensure approvals are achieved within the required time frame.
• Check and approve graded specs with factories and amend where required.
• Input information for size charts.
• Monitor and update the critical path for all styles.
• Access and update online Customer Web Portals in relation to fits.
• Throughout the sample process ensure the PLM system is updated at each stage of the process.
• Liaise with the womenswear design, fabric and merchandising teams and customers.
• Continually assess quality levels and construction techniques, ensuring factories adhere to customer specifications, ensure that sealing samples follow retailer guidelines.
• Occasional travel to customers and the factories in Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh to assess products at pre-production and production AQL stages.

Essential Skills

• Senior Garment Technologist or Garment Technologist with at least 6 years experience.
• Technical or product background in multi-product fashion.
• Experience overseeing fit samples from first fit and sealer to production sample.
• Strong fashion eye with the ability to complete most of the work before sealing sample stage.
• Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
• Highly organised with sound knowledge of the critical path.
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive in taking the initiative to ensure the technical and sealing process runs smoothly and on time.
• Computer literate MS Word and Excel.
