As Junior Fabric Technologist within a leading womenswear supplier, you will step into a role where creativity meets technical expertise, shaping the foundation of multi-product ranges across wovens and jersey.
Working in close partnership with Design and Fabric teams, the focus is on sourcing and developing fabrics and trims that balance innovation, performance and aesthetic direction, while meeting the evolving compliance and sustainability standards required by major retail partners.
Based within a commutable distance of London, the successful candidate will bring 2 to 3 years of supplier-based experience and feel energised by a fast-moving environment where priorities shift quickly across sourcing, development, testing, compliance and sustainability.
Main responsibilities:
Oversee base and bulk testing for multiple accounts, including arranging and reviewing test reports, organising wash tests and wearer trials, and assessing fabric performance.
Ensure compliance with retailer standards, conduct risk assessments, and address any issues to maintain customer satisfaction
Manage material developments overseeing sourcing requests, fabric analysis, and redevelopments based on customer and design team requests.
Work on compliance and sustainability requirements.
Reviewing certificates including Scope and GRS and uploading forms to customer portals.
Maintain strong international relationships with mills and factories in China, Cambodia, and Bangladesh to ensure a smooth operation from fabric development to quality approval and bulk production.
Maintain up-to-date PLM systems information and core principles, including data management and product configuration.
Essential Skills
Assistant or Junior Fabric Technologist with a minimum of 2-3 years of supplier-based experience in women's wovens and jersey.
Experience working with retailer compliance and sustainability standards.
High level of attention to detail.
Self-starter with a determined attitude and strong initiative.
Ability to prioritise workload, juggle multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Analytical and numerical.
Experience in retailer compliance and sustainability standards.
