We're hiring a Menswear Designer specialising in smart wovens (jackets, trousers, blazers, shirts, outerwear) on behalf of a market-leading manufacturer based in London.
We're hiring a Menswear Designer specialising in smart wovens (jackets, trousers, blazers, shirts, outerwear) on behalf of a market-leading manufacturer where you'll be designing trend-inspired ranges for a leading retailer. Hybrid from home on Mondays and Fridays, at the London HQ in between, reporting to the Head of Design.
The successful designer must be UK-based and comfortably commutable to Camden. With at least 2-3 years of smart wovens experience. The position will suit an Assistant Designer or Junior Designer ready to take the next step on the career ladder or a Menswear Designer ready for a change.
You’ll need to have a keen eye for trend, fabric and colour and intermediate to advanced Adobe Illustrator proficiency. AI design experience would also be a plus but is not essential.
If you’re motivated and diligent, there is also excellent opportunity for career progression.
What you'll be doing
Designing seasonal and trend-led smart wovens including jackets, trousers, blazers, shirts and outerwear. Any tailoring experience would be a bonus but is not essential.
Identify emerging trends and potential gaps in the product range, and propose appropriate fabrics and designs.
Work closely with the account management team to support product and range evolution.
Ongoing fabric and trend research, presenting to buyers.
Extensive fabric and trim sourcing, collaborating with the in-house fabric team whilst aligning with buyer briefs and designing into emerging trends.
Prepare and lead customer development days, actioning development samples according to brief.
Create initial technical packs in Illustrator, working with the garment technical team.
Follow the sampling critical path for your designs, working closely with internal teams and the Shanghai office, updating customers and ensuring samples are delivered in time for range building and sign-off meetings.
Liaising daily with mills and buying teams.
What You’ll Bring
A degree in Fashion Design with at least 2-3 years of post-graduate UK-based experience in menswear, including smart wovens (jackets, trousers, blazers, shirts and outerwear).
Fast fashion experience will be an advantage.
Good fabric knowledge with a great eye for menswear trends, colour and texture.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator) and MS Office.
AI design experience is welcome if you have this.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
A confident, proactive, positive presence within a team.
The ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
A people person who naturally enjoys building relationships with buyers, colleagues and suppliers at every level.
Motivation and passion for menswear design.
Additional Requirements
Applicants must be UK-based and living within a commutable distance of Camden.
Salary & Benefits
Salary in line with experience.
Hybrid working, 2-3 days a week in the office.
