As a Senior Womenswear Designer skilled in spotting trends and bringing them to life you will be designing multi-product women's day to night soft separates and dresses for F&F and M&S. Any tailoring would be a bonus but is not essential.
The role sits within a large-scale design team at a leading supplier, working closely with buyers, identifying seasonal trends, key fabrics, conducting market research, designing product, creating colour palettes and presentations. Reporting to the Design Director.
As a hybrid, 12-month maternity cover role, there is a genuine possibility it will become permanent for the right person. If you are freelancing and would like a stint in-house, simply fancy a change or know a designer who has outgrown their current position, apply directly via the post.
The successful individual must be UK-based, comfortably commutable to Camden tube. Design expertise in women's soft separates and dresses is essential, backed by confident presentation skills and intermediate to advanced Adobe Illustrator proficiency.
What you'll be doing
Designing multi-product women's soft separates and dresses (mainly wovens), from day through to evening.
Leading seasonal trend, fabric and market research.
Meeting fabric mills and agents, and briefing the fabric team on sourcing and developments.
Developing colour palettes.
Collaborating with the print team on all-over prints and colourways. If print design is also part of your skillset, there's scope to keep your hand in here.
Designing in Illustrator from initial CAD (intermediate to advanced Illustrator skills are essential).
Briefing the junior designer on technical packs and design presentations.
Handing tech packs over to the garment technologists for sample development once orders are placed.
Attending fit meetings as required.
Keeping all product information current on internal systems.
What you'll bring
A degree in Fashion Design with at least 5 years of post-graduate UK-based experience in womenswear design.
Fast fashion or supermarket brand experience will be an advantage.
Expertise designing women's soft separates and dresses, tailoring experience is a bonus but is not essential.
Excellent fabric knowledge and a great eye for shape and detailing.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
A track record working in a fast-paced design team.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A confident, proactive, positive presence within a team.
The ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload.
Comfort building relationships with buyers and colleagues at every level.
Eligibility
Applicants must be UK-based and living within a commutable distance of Camden tube.
Salary and benefits
Salary up to c£60k in line with experience.
Hybrid working, 2-3 days a week in the office.
Monday to Thursday, 9:00 to 5:30; Friday, 9:00 to 4:30.
25 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays.
